Awka, Anambra State — APGA National Chairman, Chief Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa (Ezenwata Umuchu), has set the party’s reform agenda at the South East Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka, with the adoption of the Option A4 system for party primaries, signaling a new direction in internal reorientation and electoral preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his opening remarks, the National Chairman welcomed party leaders, stakeholders, and members from across the South East, appreciating their commitment to the growth of APGA. He reaffirmed the party’s resolve to strengthen internal democracy, deepen its structures, and reposition it for greater electoral success.
Chief Ezeokenwa emphasized that under the Option A4 system, party members will openly queue behind aspirants of their choice at the ward level, ensuring transparency and credibility. He also outlined a code of conduct for aspirants and party officials, stressing discipline, fairness, and strict adherence to party guidelines.
Also addressing stakeholders, the National Leader of APGA and Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, described the meeting as a defining moment for the party. He called for an end to transactional politics and stressed the need to build a disciplined, value-driven political movement anchored on merit and grassroots support.
Governor Soludo reiterated that Option A4 remains critical to strengthening internal democracy and ensuring that power resides with party members at the grassroots. He further urged stakeholders to be strategic ahead of future elections, emphasizing that political relevance is driven by active participation and votes.
A major highlight of the meeting was the interactive question-and-answer session, alongside the unanimous adoption of a motion of commendation in recognition of Governor Soludo’s leadership and developmental strides in Anambra State and within the party.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze; members of the National Working Committee, State Working Committees, Local Government and Ward Executives, aspirants, and stakeholders from across the South East Zone.
