APGA NATIONAL CHAIRMAN CONGRATULATES CHRIST THE KING COLLEGE ONITSHA FOR EMERGING AS GLOBAL CHAMPION IN WORLD AFFAIRS CHALLENGE 2024.
Abuja, Nigeria - The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the staff and students of Christ The King College, Onitsha, the Anambra State Government, and Nigeria for emerging as Global Champion in the World Affairs Challenge 2024.
Nigeria emerged victorious at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge (WAC) 2024 as Christ The King College (CKC), Onitsha, representing the country, secured the coveted global first-place position. This remarkable achievement, which occurred on Wednesday, marks the first time Nigeria is clinching Gold in the competition’s 32-year history. The World Affairs Challenge, organised by WorldDenver, empowers high school students around the globe to develop innovative solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. CKC, having triumphed in Africa to represent Nigeria, came top, ahead of Redmond High School, WA, USA, and TEVITOL High School, Turkey, who secured the second and third places, respectively.
The APGA National Chairman lauded the resilience, dedication, and intelligence of the students and teachers of Christ The King College, emphasizing that their victory is not merely a win for the school or the state but a monumental success for Nigeria on the global stage. “This win signifies the enormous potential and talent within our educational institutions and the power of nurturing such talents towards solving global challenges,” said Bar. Ezeokenwa. He further highlighted the critical role of the Anambra State Government in supporting and promoting excellence in education, which has paved the way for this significant achievement.
Importantly, Bar. Ezeokenwa underscored that the triumph of CKC is in alignment with the APGA manifesto on education, which champions qualitative, innovative, and solution-based education, emphazing that the APGA-led government in Anambra State has successfully implemented these principles, which in turn midwifed the victory of Nigeria at the Global stage. “This win underscores the significance of our commitment to transforming the educational landscape in line with sustainable development goals, a vision that has been realized through the hard work of our students and educators, and the supportive governance of Anambra State,” added Bar. Ezeokenwa.
The APGA National Chairman also acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders who have played a part in this journey—parents, teachers, the school administration, and sponsors—for their unwavering support and encouragement towards achieving excellence. He noted that this global recognition serves as an inspiration for other educational institutions in Nigeria and across Africa to strive for excellence and to partake actively in initiatives that foster problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation.
Bar. Sly Ezeokenwa reiterated APGA’s commitment to supporting education and youth empowerment. He expressed optimism that this victory would spur more young people in Nigeria to engage in initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and global welfare.
